Luke tells the story, in the fourth chapter of his Gospel, of Jesus referring to what we know as Isaiah 61:1-3 as a statement of his mission and purpose on earth.
What does it mean for followers of Christ that our Lord and Master began his public ministry with the statement; “…He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor”? How do we follow Him in this mission, and who are the poor in our societies today?
